IberSeech 2014 will be held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain, from 19 to 21 November 2014. This conference is organized by the “Digital Signal Processing Division. Institute for Technological Development and Innovation in Communications (IDeTIC)” of the Universidad Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the Spanish Thematic Network on Speech Technology (RTTH) and the ISCA-Special Interest Group on Iberian Languages (SIG-IL).
The Spanish Thematic Network on Speech Technology (“Red Temática en Tecnologíasdel Habla, (RTTH) has been promoting the “Jornadas en Tecnologías del Habla” since 2000. Previous workshops were held in Seville (2000), Granada (2002), Valencia (2004), Zaragoza (2006) and Bilbao (2008).
The ISCA Special Interest Group on Iberian Languages (SIG-IL) decided to organize the “I Iberian SLTech - I Joint SIG-IL / Microsoft Workshop on Speech and Language Technologies for Iberian Languages”. The I Iberian SLTech was held in Porto Salvo, nearby Lisbon, on September 2009. Both events pursue the aims of being a meeting point to present and discuss the results of the research on speech and language technologies on Iberian languages and promoting industry/university collaboration.
These two separate events joined efforts in their next edition at the “FALA2010” conference in Vigo (2010), the first joint “Jornadas en Tecnología del Habla” and “Iberian SLTech”. The last edition of this joint event was held in Madrid under the name Iberspeech 2012. Based on the success of these two previous events, the IberSpeech 2014 conference to be held in Gran Canaria will join them again in order to take advantage of synergies and aiming at gathering most of the members of the scientific community working on speech and language technologies for the Iberian Languages.
All the community working on processing of the Iberian Languages is invited to participate this coming November in a three day event planned to promote interaction and discussion. There will be a wide variety of activities: technical papers presentations, keynote lectures, presentation of project reports, laboratories activities, recent PhD thesis, discussion panels, awards to the best thesis and papers.
